The Paua Palace

My royal blog, life, opinions and me, it’s all about ME.. Right?

Tui hits the big smoke

Posted by pauaprincess on September 11, 2007

A Tui has moved into my pohutukawa tree.

Isn’t he gorgeous?   That’s him in full voice, singing his lovely song. Tui’s are native New Zealand birds, they are endemic honey eaters and he is lurking in my pohutukawa because of the nectar.

My garden is a pretty wild place, it doesn’t deserve the label of garden really, it’s completely overgrown.  While I’d prefer we had manicured lawn and neatly planted beds of flowers, not to mention the time to tend to them, I’m not sure I’d get the wildlife I get living in the city if it were.

I can hear another nearby, possibly this fella’s mate.  I hope they stay for the summer.
